Vibrant Japanese tenugui with colorful koinobori carp
This lively Japanese towel features colorful koinobori—carp streamers flying in the wind as seen during Japan’s Children’s Day. Representing strength, perseverance, and joy, this hand-dyed tenugui is perfect for brightening up a bedroom, hallway, or workspace. Made in Japan from 100% cotton using the traditional Sogi-zome technique, it also works beautifully as a summer table runner or furoshiki wrap.
For easy hanging, consider a wooden tenugui support.
Note: Tenugui is a thin Japanese cotton fabric, intentionally unhemmed to dry quickly. The edges may fray slightly at first—just trim any loose threads, and it will stabilize naturally after a few washes.
